I have a strong aversion to pain, so I’ll skip the Today segment.
It’s always the same, sad business when some “mainstream” journalist flaunts his/her condescension, prejudice and ignorance…
Next on Today: “Do Sci-Fi Writers Believe in UFOs?”

Not a bad bit from Naughtie at all.
I think the problem such as it is, is that SF folk going on the radio
A) don’t understand how to get a point across in a three way piece that lasts 210 seconds.
B) assume their interview hates or despises SF and start off by defending it
and more importantly
C) where, exactly, was the news that merited their 210 seconds of air time?
What we really need is a deep enthralling semi-permanent half hour podcast-ed show that goes out on BBC7. Like Serious About Comedy, but … good.

As to A) and B), I admit Naughtie’s hectoring about geekiness may have prejudiced me somewhat.
